Tip #1 - Try to do the same in your native language

You have to chat about something with your friend or work colleague and then it happens - your thoughts stop and some kind of a blackout takes place in your mind. You automatically start picking up some words from your native tongue to help with finding the way out of this confusion and... Your English speech is completely messed up.

But now, when you're alone, try this - recall the situation that got you confused and try to speak about that topic in your language - tell it yourself. I guarantee that you'll notice even now you can't talk about it fluently and free - you have to stop, find the right word... You see, maybe the topic isn't that easy, and you just have to stop a little bit and think what to say.

The bottom line - if it's difficult to speak about some given topic in your native language, how can you expect speak completely fluently about it in English? Change your mindset and the next time when it happens, tell yourself - it's OK, there's nothing wrong with it, I just have to slow down and find the right word and the right thing to say.

Tip #2 - Try to practise some English when you wake up

The next time you wake up and are still in the state of half-sleep, try to speak with yourself in English about something. Magically, you'll notice that if the speech issue was there the previous day, it's gone! Yes, it happens, in this state of mind your mental barriers have become weak and your performance when speaking English is as good as possible. Well, this practise in the morning is going to work as a boost for your confidence and help you with your daily conversations as well.

Tip #3 - Get rid of a habit of thinking English

If you have developed a habit of thinking English in hope that it's going to help you with becoming always fluent but...no matter how hard you try, you still get messy thoughts and hesitate while speaking English - stop doing it!

You're working too hard on yourself and try to free your mind and not to force yourself to think in English. Ironically I noticed an increased fluency when I stopped trying to think English at all costs. Your native language is your mind language and thinking is a process of abstract images rather than using words and sentences.

If you're trying to do the same in English, sooner or later your mind will just require using your language and the two languages will start mixing together.

Try these 3 things and after a few days you'll notice an improvement!

Happy speaking!
