So initially I thought I would add a few ‘tips and tricks’ article in between of this course, but frankly speaking, it would be like a fifth wheel if I see it from the reader’s point of view, isn’t it?
It would be like you are given a coke in name of coffee at a cafe (I hope the reference is clear).
By the way, did you ever take five bags of luggage and due to some problems you had to return within two days and all your luggage has been just like a fifth wheel?
I am sure everyone has situations like these where something was nothing more than a fifth wheel or maybe you yourself felt like one (no offense!).
Do you know now what “fifth wheel” means?
I am sure you do.
But for those who are still confused what this phrase ‘fifth wheel’ means, it simply means ‘ something/someone useless, out of place or unnecessary’.
Some examples to explain could be:
- Lighting outside the guest house in the daytime was just like a fifth wheel.
- There were only couples there at the party. I felt like a fifth wheel.
So do you know now what the person wants to convey when he uses this phrase ‘fifth wheel’?
